Coronavirus has reeked havoc on all of our lives. Gone are the days when we could just frolic in the streets, laughing and playing to our heart’s desire. I mean, you could technically still do that, but if you’re anything like me, a frolic or two too much will have you passed out in the streets. Breathing through a mask and exercising is no small feat. With the pandemic on the rise and a vaccine just starting to hit the market, returning to some sense of normalcy could be on the horizon. I don’t know about you but since the pandemic started, I have had a huge desire to be as healthy as I can. I was already pretty healthy but there’s nothing like a pandemic to put the ‘do it or else’ into your daily activities. Whenever the first shutdown happened, I struggled to figure out how to stay in shape. At home work out programs really aren’t my thing. So I quickly fell off the T-25, Insanity, Tae Bo, train. I’m an artist, singer, trained dancer. I need to be interacting and moving in a way that’s fun. That’s when I remembered an exercise format that really aligned with my idea of fitness. The new Rx in town…RX Moves!

What is RX Moves?
RX Moves is a cardio dance, exercise format that gives you all of the benefits of dynamic cardiovascular exercise. These dance classes are taught by instructors that care about the health and well being of their peers. The classes are fast-paced and high energy. In one 1-hour session, you are guaranteed to burn up to 1000 calories.
Now I know you may be thinking, what’s so different about RX Moves? How is it different from let’s say Zumba, or Cize. What really sets RX Moves apart in my book is the representation. With all the political unrest and socio-economic dissent plaguing our world, inclusion and representation matters. In these classes, you will dance along to music stylings spanning from the U.S. all the way to India. RX Moves represents a clientele that is as diverse as the world is round. They even offer other styles of movement. There is RX Yoga, RX Modern Afro Pop, RX Dance Therapy, a little flavor for everyone.
Meet the Co-Founders
Enter TJ and Natalia. Both TJ and Natalia reside in the Greater Dallas area and have been serving the fitness community for almost ten years. Both originally started teaching fitness classes at the local gyms in the city. They were both working at the same gym when they happened to meet. Both TJ and Natalia had a dedicated following and wanted to figure out a way to blend their unique personalities and styles into one cohesive fitness offering. In 2016, Rx Moves was born. I asked both of them about their fitness brand and here’s what they had to say.
A few words
“We created RX Movesâ„¢ because we wanted to prescribe and provide a motivating, rewarding and judge-free zone to people with different fitness needs. Our ulimate objective was to differentiate ourselves from others trying to do the same thing. We wanted to use dance to help people meet very specific fitness goals. We call ourselves therapists because we are essentially prescribing the right amount of dance to revolutionize the body and free the mind. When most people see the Rx, they think of prescriptions. They think of medicine, pills. We decided to flip that on its head and give people something that they didn’t have to question whether or not it was actually helping them. Our instructors will prescribe the right amount of intensity to kill those calories while dancing to different genres of music. We use Hip hop, Latin, Pop, Bollywood, African, etc. There’s a little something for everybody!”

I don’t know about you but that’s enough for me! If you’re ever in the greater Dallas area and want to experience a sensation like no other, then you need to check out RX Moves! They are offering safely, socially distant, in person classes as well as virtual ones. Do yourself a favor and check out the new Rx in town. RX Moves that is. Just go try it. I guarantee you’ll have a good time!
